2019 Episcopal Church Women Honorees

Amber Thompson-Quartey

Amber is a young lady of 13 years of age. She has been serving as an acolyte for over five years more recently as a lector at our Sunday services. Amber is an eighth grade student and has always been an honor student since the start of her educational path. Notably, she has never been absent from school since starting Pre-K. Congratulations Amber!

The Rev. Deacon Kathleen Ballard

Rev. Deacon Ballard is a cradle Episcopalian. She graduated from UCLA and received her Master of Arts in Education from Seton Hall University. Rev. Deacon Ballard was ordained a deacon in 2005 at Trinity and St. Philip’s Cathedral and has served as a deacon in numerous parishes in the Dioceses. She retired earlier this year at the age of 94. She is a true women of God, prayer and faith.

The Right Rev. Bishop Carlye J. Hughes, the 11th Bishop of the Dioceses of Newark, was the Easter Celebrant and Preacher at the Cathedral. Special thanks to jazz artists Jackie Jones and Friends for their musical contribution that added a blessing to our service.
